Understand the difference
First, you should make sure that you understand the difference between UX and UI Design. Now, to understand in simple words ask a few questions to yourself! If you like the visual part of the design! If yes, then go for a career in UI Design. But, if you are more in-depth regarding the concept of the product, user interface, etc. you should go for UX Design, i.e. basically about user experience.
Research on the Tools to Work
After you catch hold on to what you want to do, focus on how you can do it! Start researching on which tool or software is in trend to work on designs. To name a few there are:
Figma
Sketch
Adobe XD, etc.
Work on understanding the functions of these tools and software. This will help you to do hassle-free work and will give your mind some space to be creative.
Look Around and Focus on Details
Keep surfing and look at what other designers are doing to this date. How the websites are being designed, and why a particular website is designed in a certain way! These are the questions through which you must study the patterns of the web designs.
Select a few great websites, go through their structure and try to understand why things are in a certain way. Why the logo is on the top corner and not in the middle? Why the call to action button is in the end? Asking these questions and thinking out of the box will give you a perspective. And, this perspective is really important in terms of a long-term career in UX/UI Designing.
Copy and Learn (DON’T COPY AND PASTE)
Once you figure out what is the demand in the industry, start working with the designs. And yes, you read the line right! Copy other designers, do what they are doing. Take their designs and try to copy them. Don’t steal and post their work! But, experiment with it. Copying their styles can make you learn their techniques. Further, you can create your work. So yes, copy as much as you can to grasp the knowledge, but DON’T PASTE!
Find the best designers and follow their blogs, vlogs, their channels, and tutorials. This will help you a lot to stay updated with what is new in the field. Also, with this, you might get detailed insight about the tools and techniques used to create the design that will serve the clients well!
